MDEP Highlights
July 01, 2010
Today’s MDEP Highlight expands on a subject mentioned briefly in the June 24,
2010 discussion under “From the Desk of the CEO”.
In the last few sentences of that discussion the following is said about
fuel savings, “Mirenco has shown an average of 1,000 gallons of fuel savings per
year on engines that are adjusted, repaired, or have had products installed as a
result of the MDEP service. That translates into the same amount of work
completed each year but with over 1 billion gallons of fuel savings for 1
million MDEP-serviced engines”.
Mirenco’s MDEP database was used to determine, on average, how much fuel savings
is being realized when the MDEP service is used to detect and properly adjust,
repair, or install a C/D-Max on an engine.
With over 500 instances used for calculation in the results, an average
of 1,000 gallons per year of fuel savings has been realized. Expanding these results to include a
reasonable share of the engines within the MDEP market could easily show 1
million or more engines realizing similar fuel savings. Translating that into value for our
customers produces a billion gallons of fuel savings or 2 to 3 billion dollars
in savings.
The following MDEP evaluation provides a typical example of an engine that has
serviced through the use of MDEP to reduce fuel consumption and provide the
customer with fuel savings.
