Today’s MDEP Highlight demonstrates how a proper engine combustion diagnosis
followed by the appropriate repairs and adjustments will make a dramatic
improvement in combustion efficiency. It is the combination of these key steps
that, together, result in a successful improvement in an engines combustion.
The successful combination of these steps is often overlooked by the customer
and improvements in combustion are often attributed to a single action rather
then the entire process. This common misconception is discussed further in the 05/08/2009
“From the Desk of the CEO” article.
In the following MDEP reports an engine has been baseline tested with severe
emission and fuel efficiency problems. Only after faulty injectors were
replaced, the overhead was completed and the air-fuel valve was adjusted was
this engine able to clean up and demonstrate a drastic improvement in combustion
efficiency. The improvement in combustion demonstrated here would not have
been possible if only one part of the process was completed. The successful
improvement of the engines combustion required that all of the following was
completed, the proper diagnosis, repair and adjustment.
