Mirenco Demonstrates Combustion Management Program

RADCLIFFE, Iowa--May 28, 2003--Mirenco, Inc., (OTCBB:MREO) recently demonstrated its diesel Combustion Management Program for a large transit system in Mississauga, Ontario.

Mirenco showed how Mississauga Transit can reduce emissions on its older diesel buses, while gaining a return on its investment through improved fuel savings and extended vehicle life. Mississauga Transit asked Mirenco to analyze 118 older diesel buses in its fleet and offer solutions.

Mirenco technicians tested the diesel exhaust opacity of 19 buses. Opacity measures the percentage of light that is blocked by particulate matter, or soot. Based on projections from that data, Mirenco estimates it could save Mississauga Transit 46,000 gallons of fuel and prevent particulate emissions of more than 5 tons of diesel emissions annually on 118 diesel buses through Mirenco's DriverMax product.

To demonstrate the effectiveness of DriverMax, Mirenco installed DriverMax on two Mississauga Transit buses. Diesel exhaust opacity decreased by 56 percent and 58 percent respectively on the two buses with DriverMax.

The affordable DriverMax system prevents excess, unburned diesel fuel from spewing out the tailpipe as soot by delivering only as much fuel as the engine can burn. DriverMax accomplishes this through a solid state, electronic throttle delay and throttle stop that can be programmed with a hand-held computer. The system also can be adapted to mechanical fuel-injection engines.

Mississauga is a city of more than 600,000 people in the Greater Toronto Area. Mississauga Transit officials contacted Mirenco largely through the assistance of the U.S. Department of Commerce, which helps U.S. companies find prospective international trade partners. "I would like to thank the U.S. Department of Commerce for opening doors on behalf of Mirenco in Ontario," Fosseen said.

Mirenco will continue demonstrating its Combustion Management Program for many applications of heavy-duty diesel vehicles throughout Ontario. Heavy-duty diesel vehicles in Ontario must pass strict clean-air standards to be licensed each year. In 2004, Ontario will have the strictest clean-air standards in North America for heavy-duty diesel vehicles.
