Louisville KY Redesignated as an Air-Quality-Compliant EPA Region
Radcliffe, IA – Mirenco, Inc. (OTCBB: MREO) is pleased to recognize the
Louisville, KY region as being in compliance with the United States
Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) one-hour ozone standard.
The EPA issued a formal notice of compliance on October 4, 2001 after confirming
compliance using three years (1998-2000) of air quality monitoring data. As a
result, the EPA has also approved re-designation requests for areas in Indiana
and Kentucky and approved state plans aimed at maintaining compliance with the
ozone standard for at least the next decade.
Thomas Skinner, EPA Region Five Administrator, commented, "A major milestone has
been reached in the Louisville area...due to the perseverance of the citizens
and state officials to take steps to curb pollution from stationary and mobile
sources."
Mirenco takes pride in recognizing Louisville’s accomplishment since Mirenco has
been involved in the Transit Authority of River City (TARC) efforts to curb
emissions and improve mileage. For over three years Mirenco has been working
with TARC. During the first year of operation on 100 vehicles, Mirenco’s
DriverMax technology saved over 11,000 pounds of emissions from polluting the
air, and reduced fuel consumption by 43,000 gallons.
Dwayne Fosseen, Mirenco’s Chairman & CEO, commented, "Louisville and TARC should
be proud, and we are proud to have contributed to their accomplishments. We
intend on repeating the Louisville success story across the nation and around
the world."
Further commenting on Mirenco’s opportunity, Mr. Fosseen added, "We’ve
dispatched our sales force to cover current EPA non-compliant areas to help them
tackle the problem."
