Mirenco Participates in Renewable Diesel Workshop
Mirenco Technology Highlighted in Diesel Workshop Expo
Radcliffe, IA – October 4, 2001 – Mirenco (OTCBB: MREO) joined a number of
industry constituents in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the Renewable Diesel Workshop
held on October 3rd. The U.S Department of Energy Office of Fuels Development,
the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Iowa Department of Natural
Resources Energy Bureau, the Iowa Department of Agriculture, the Iowa Soybean
Promotion Board, and a long-time customer of Mirenco, Five Seasons
Transportation and Parking of Cedar Rapids sponsored the event.
As a long-time user of Mirenco’s technologies, Five Seasons Transportation
operates the transit system for Cedar Rapids and has earned both energy
efficiency and clean environment honors.
Five Seasons’ Executive Director, Bill Hoekstra, commented on their use of
technologies during a key workshop presentation, "Everything we use has to stand
on its own merits.... the last thing we want to have is our buses emitting black
smoke. We all know what black smoke is. It’s unburned fuel."
Five Seasons employs a number of technologies including Mirenco supplied
electronics as well as a bio-diesel blend of fuel. Through the intelligent
application of effective technologies, Five Seasons has extended the life of
their fleet while maintaining operational and environmental efficiencies.
Ranging in age from 1978 to 1982, Five Seasons’ buses are virtually smoke-free,
producing an average emissions measurement of 6.33%. In comparison to new buses,
this emissions level is extraordinary, as even today’s newest engine technology
will often produce emissions in the 5-10% range.
Mirenco was invited to attend the event and provide a real time demonstration at
the Expo session of the Workshop. Using a Five Seasons bus installed with
Mirenco’s DriverMax and Robotic Arm, before and after demonstrations were
provided with real time emissions monitoring equipment from Red Mountain
engineering. Additionally a complete Five Seasons fleet profile chart was
provided highlighting the individual and combined effects of Mirenco’s
technologies along with the B20 bio-diesel blend of fuel.
During the Workshop Expo, participants witnessed the emissions reductions
firsthand on a 1978 Five Seasons bus. Using real time emissions monitoring
equipment, without Mirenco’s DriverMax, emissions were quite visible, measuring
16.3%. After engaging Mirenco’s DriverMax, the emissions measurement was reduced
to a completely invisible 4.79% (71% reduction). Mr. Hoekstra commented, "We’re
as clean or cleaner than the newest fleets in California."
Complete press packages and emissions records were provided at the Workshop and
are available by contacting Mirenco directly.
