Forbes' Presidential Campaign Bus Saves Fuel, Controls Emissions with 21st
Century Technology
Mirenco accelerates pace of accomplishments by
installing demonstration HydroFire Unit on Steve Forbes Presidential Campaign
Bus
Forbes Campaign Bus In Radcliffe Iowa at Mirenco Headquarters
Radcliffe, Iowa -- On Saturday, October 30, 1999, Mirenco,
Inc., installed one of its patented HydroFire emission and fuel control systems
onto the Steve Forbes' Presidential campaign bus. The HydroFire system was
installed to reveal the effectiveness of the patented technology on a vehicle
that will gain national attention over the coming months as it travels across
the country on the campaign trail.
Dwayne Fosseen, Founder and CEO of Mirenco commented on the installation, "We
get excited when we see people realize the potential of our products." Fosseen
added, "As soon as we installed the HydroFire system we took video and opacity
measurements to document the immediate reduction in emissions. They couldn't
believe it. We've known it for years and now the country can see it too."
Opacity is a standardized measurement of the density of emissions that are
expelled from a vehicle's exhaust. Using a Federally approved Opacity
Measurement device on four tests ("Snap-Tests") with 15 test points, both with
and without HydroFire, 82% of the emissions were eliminated at precisely the
point in acceleration when the bus is wasting the most fuel and producing the
greatest level of exhaust smoke.
Fosseen, commenting on the tests, noted, "the Snap-Test results show the huge
decrease in emissions when the bus initially takes off. Everyone in every major
city has been blanketed by smoke while standing by a curb when a bus pulls away.
Those emissions are pure pollutants and wasted fuel. Our products and on-board
software saved fuel and eliminated over 80% of the exhaust smoke right when it
happened, which is just when the driver hits the accelerator from a dead stop.
The black puff just disappeared."
The HydroFire system installed on the Forbes bus is a sophisticated extension of
Mirenco's patented DriverMax product, which was designed to address the wasted
fuel, high emissions, and unnecessary maintenance that result in the early
acceleration stage of a vehicle. Fosseen noted "HydroFire provides all of the
benefits of our DriverMax during early acceleration, and also addresses higher
speed fuel waste and pollution production by continuously monitoring the bus'
performance and precisely supplementing the diesel fuel with a patented
water-alcohol mixture under specific conditions." The result is fuel savings,
decreased pollution, and increased engine life with less wear and tear on the
components.
Mirenco is anxiously awaiting more positive feedback from the Forbes bus
driver(s) and support staff as they proceed on the campaign trail. Fosseen
commented on his expectations, stating, "The country, and the world, is about to
learn of our technology. We're doing a good thing here, both economically and
environmentally, and our efforts hold the promise of global benefits. As soon as
the Forbes bus performance data is available, we'll be publishing the results on
our Mirenco.com site for everyone to see."
