Mirenco and TMC Have Joined Forces to Demonstrate New Technology 

Mirenco Debuts EconoCruise Technology On TMC Truck

Des Moines, IA - TMC Transportation, located in Des Moines, will assist Radcliffe-based company Mirenco with a new technology they created called "EconoCruise" which controls fuel mileage and engine exhaust emissions by utilizing the Global Positioning System (GPS).

A TMC truck will become the first vehicle ever to travel the interstate freeway on September 15 using a new intelligent cruise control that utilizes Global Positions. The journey will begin at the U.S. Department of Energy City Plant at 10:30 a.m. and end up at the Capitol Building in Des Moines at approximately 1:30 p.m. with state officials and other interested parties present to take part in this first technological journey.

Unlike a standard cruise control, the EconoCruise system, assisted by GPS, can recognize and prepare for road grade miles ahead of the vehicle to assist fleets and private vehicle operations. The GPS will tell the EconoCruise unit where the vehicle is located on a highway or interstate and the vehicle speed. The unit will then compare the information to its stored memory and begin feeding optimal throttle position information to the engine.
