Mirenco Signs Contract With Canadian Bus Manufacturer
Mirenco signs OEM deal for new buses
Radcliffe, IA - Mirenco, Inc., based in Radcliffe, Iowa,
has developed DriverMax, a product that Overland Custom Coach plans to install
in all of the vehicles they manufacture. The Ontario company is the first to use
the devices as standard equipment.
The Iowa product will be installed on each of the 127 buses that Overland is
building for the Toronto Transit Commission.

For Dwayne Fosseen, President and CEO of Mirenco, the contract is a rewarding
step in a journey that actually started during the 1976 oil crisis. That's when
Fosseen realized there might be a need for some type of device concerned with
vehicle exhaust emission and increased fuel mileage.

The Company has over 90 locations, primarily in the southeastern United States.
Mirenco has previously performed its Combustion Management Program at five of
the Company’s locations.
The result is DriverMax, a product that increases fuel
economy while controlling vehicle emissions, all in a black box that can be
installed on existing engines. The device, designed by the Department of Energy
from Fosseen's patent, can also be used on passenger cars.
Ever since he graduated from Radcliffe High School, Fosseen has been an
inventor. For many years he farmed in addition to his business interests,
combining those two areas in his 1964 invention, an auxiliary fuel tank for farm
tractors.
"I've spent years working on environmental issues." comments Fosseen. Perhaps
that concern comes from his connection to the farm near Radcliffe that was
settled by his great-grandfather, where Fosseen still lives with his family.
In addition to Overland Custom Coach, DriverMax units are being installed,
tested, and sold to cities for use on their buses in St. Louis, Memphis,
Chicago, and several other large cities in the U.S. and internationally. The
unit recently received approval from the State of California Air Resources
Board.
Mirenco has also received a grant from the Department of Energy to develop
EconoCruiseTM, another model from Fosseen. That new microprocessor unit will
link the world's satellite navigation system (GPS) to a vehicle throttle. For
the first time in history, fuel mileage and engine exhaust emissions will be
managed by satellite technology.
