I am proud to have realized the events disclosed in the past two press releases
regarding two quality Caterpillar dealers,
MacAllister Machinery, Inc.
and
Walker Machinery, becoming Mirenco service providers. It is truly an exciting time for the
company as we begin to witness dealer after dealer become Mirenco service
providers. As the company continues
to grow it is appropriate that we continue to move forward in preparing
ourselves for the future. Our primary goal is to help our customers reduce operation
costs and improve combustion through the measurement, repair, and maintenance of
an engine's combustion health through our
MDEP
service.
In an effort to improve upon the MDEP service Mirenco has been working for
several months now on a new advanced set of purpose-built equipment to perform
MDEP evaluations. This new MDEP equipment will provide the field
technician with a user-friendly, quicker, and easier to use tool to complete
MDEP evaluations. The new equipment will automate several key processes
previously accomplished through manual means.
Several new features will be included to help improve the MDEP service as well
as provide new and valuable information to the customer. The new MDEP equipment
will feature a wireless handheld interface (Fig. 1) which will control a
combined 5-Gas and DPM meter (Fig. 2). The new handheld interface will provide
the technician with user-friendly software (Fig. 3) that is designed
specifically for MDEP servicing. A key feature of the new equipment that will
help to significantly reduce the time it takes to complete a MDEP evaluation is
the addition of RFID tags in order to identify each engine that is evaluated.
These RFID tags will be much like the Mirenco stickers in use today by Whayne
Supply (Fig. 4) which provide a visual identification of equipment that use
Mirenco products and services. Other features such as voice recording and
imaging capability will provide additional tools to technicians in order to help
improve the quality and quantity of information that is gathered from each MDEP
evaluation.

The new MDEP equipment is on schedule for a prototype to be in the field by
July/August with a final version ready for use by customers later this year.
Equipment is currently being used throughout North America by various service
providers (Fig. 5) and is expected to significantly grow as Mirenco services are
expanded and the new MDEP equipment is fully utilized. Mirenco has shown
an average of 1,000 gallons of fuel savings per year on engines that are
adjusted, repaired, or have had products installed as a result of the MDEP
service. That translates into the same amount of work completed each year
but with over 1 billion gallons of fuel savings for 1 million MDEP-serviced
engines.
